Sweet Christmas time

Oh,sweet Christmas time.I loved it so much this year.There was time for everything.For cooking delicious meals and making cookies and cup cakes,for celebrating with family and opening presents,for stressing out and relaxing,for playing with our pets and with the new presents and all kinds of Christmas joys.
This little fluff ball under the Christmas tree visited us for Christmas.She is still a baby,so cute and playful and so hard to take picture of.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas and  Happy New Year from my family to yours.May they bring us peace and joy and a lot of happiness.Let's believe that the world will be a better place for us and our children during the New 2013.

Grieving

Brokenhearted,swallowing tears after the tragedy in Newtown we are trying to lead a normal life.Just because of her.She needs that feeling of security and love.She needs to know that it won't happen in her school.We cried together,we talked about the innocent kids who lost their lives.We were truthful and reassuring.We want her to trust her teachers.We want her to believe that everything will be OK.
Our hearts and prayers go out to the families of the children and the teachers who lost their lives in this horrible tragedy.

December

It does not feel like winter yet.It is getting colder but we don't have snow,so far.My kid can't wait for the snow to come hoping for white Christmas.
Although it was gloomy last weekend it was pretty mild and good enough for a walk and a bike ride.It is amazing how we can still ride our bikes in December!I took her and a couple of her friends to the park on Sunday.On Saturday she had a couple of other friends on a sleepover at our house and they baked Christmas cookies.They also had a lot of fun playing with her Guinea pigs,

Relax!

Time to take a deep breath and relax.Sometimes it takes everything out of you to meet the other people's needs.With this kind of job and a family to take care of.At the end of the week you do not have anything left.So the main goal for this gloomy weekend is to relax and find some inner peace.
This doodle/drawing was completed last summer just for fun while watching my favourite talk shows.

November

Can't believe that this month is almost over.My Birthday month.And it is going to be Christmas soon!Where did this year go?The time flies so fast!These pictures were taken three years ago in November,2009.It feels like it was yesterday.I like the beautiful yellow and red colors and the metal blue of the river. That's why I would like to share them with you.

Giving thanks

I enjoy my little Thanksgiving vacation very much.How about you?For me it is time to slow dawn and spend precious time with my family.I think it is a special Holiday because it makes us think about the most important things in our lives.What am I grateful for in my life?I am grateful for the health and well being of my family and my own,as well;for their love and happiness; for the sunshine and the extraordinary warm fall this year,for my friends;for the farm folks who work hard in the fields so we can put food on our Thanksgiving table;for the people who helped us to stand on our feet after the flood 5 years ago,for our pets who bring so much joy in our lives...I can go on with the list but let me stop here and say: God bless all the good people/and animals/that bring so much light in our lives!

Sunday

A quiet weekend at home.When it gets cold it is time to slow down.And it feels good.Just making home made pizza for my daughter's sleepover,watching the guinea pigs play,watching TV and reading blogs.And dreaming about a new camera!I hope soon!This illustration of mine was completed in the summer.Ink pen and watercolor pencils.

Halloween

While waiting for trick-or-treaters I realised I could upload some pictures and update my blog.
It was a sunny but cold day today.Nothing special,just an ordinary one. Chores,TV,reading, tea drinking and now I am giving out candy to the kids.The main excitement was for my girl who had been designing her "Pirate"costume for months.I bet she'll be back home with full bag of candy.She loooves Halloween.Here you can see  some recent pictures:1and2.Some fall decoration in my house.3.Can't get enough of the fall colors.4.I found this beautiful Japanese teapot at a thrift store.The tea taste so good in it.5.My lazy cat Precious.6.My pirate reading the newspaper while waiting for her friend to pick her up for trick-or-treating.

RIP

Our little baby boy Guinea pig Scooter suddenly passed away on Wednesday ,October 24.He was so active and happy the night before playing with his brother Hurby and enjoying his favorite treats of lettuce and carrots.In the morning I noticed he could not keep his balance falling over on his sides and one hour later he passed away peacefully in his cage.We are still in shock trying to figure out why it happened to him.My little girl is brokenhearted grieving for her little baby boy in her own way,writing him letters and taking some treats to his little grave.We loved him so much and we will miss him a lot.His cute face,his vibrant and happy personality,the light and laughter he brought to our lives.Rest in peace little Scooter.

In a crafty mood

Last week I was busy and tired and did not have much energy for crafting but the week before it was a different story.Not one but two projects!All made from the same sweater.I found this cute sweater at the local thrift store.35% rabbit hair.Unbelievably soft!But unfortunately wouldn't fit anybody!So,here came the scissors and the sewing machine.The pillow was fast and easy.I cut the body part of the sweater as you can see in the picture.Sewed the top part together with the sewing machine and crocheted the front end in order to make button holes.Sewed the buttons to the pillow and....Tadaaa!
A new pillowcase for my throw pillow.Then I started to think that it was a shame the rest of the sweater to go in the garbage and decided to try to make mittens out of it.It was a bit of a struggle but at the end I managed to create the mittens you can see in the last two pictures.They are not perfect but I like them and somebody else likes them too .Very much!
