Sketches from the airport-2

Some more sketches I did at the airport in Chicago while people watching and waiting for my next flight back in May.I can't forget that extremely sweet dog, so happy and well behaved.I wish I had such a cutie like her.

October!!!...Already...?

I can't believe it is October already! But it seems to me I say it every time a season or a month changes.Time flies so fast isn't it?It is real fall now with all its glamour.I think I already mentioned that before,it is my favorite season.I love its gorgeous colors and light, especially when the sun shines.
And it is such fun to ride your bike down the bike trail through the fall colored woods!!!I love the foggy mornings when the fog creates such magical images.I love the fall because it's the time when the school starts with all kinds of activities and there is no bored kids in the house anymore. And also the soup season begins!!!!I looove me some beef soup with cabbage, potatoes and looots of carrots!

From my sketchbook

When travelling by plane a person wastes tons of time waiting at the airports. That's why I always bring a sketchbook with me.The sketches above were done at the Minneapolis and Chicago Airports and on the plane. As you can see it was in May when my daughter and I were on our way to Bulgaria.

Goodbye,Summer!

I am saying Goodbye to the summer with some pictures of our trip to Bulgaria. My daughter will never forget the beautiful countryside with the wild flowers and strawberries, butterflies and farm animals. She still remembers grandma's delicious meatballs and soups. She was amazed by the aroma of the fresh fruit just picked up from the tree. The fruits and veggies from the store do not smell like that. They smell like freezer.Sometimes she daydreams:I wish we could go back to Bulgaria just for a week:to see baba/grandma/and to take a walk in the countryside."

Some sketches

Some random pages from my sketchbook. They are old from February.
They were inspired by pictures from Facebook and the Internet. Thanks to the photographers.
I am in a creative block at the moment and  trying to bring back my inspiration looking at old staff of mine. The wonderful weather outside does not help very much.I take a lot of pictures but it feels not right not to draw.

Hello,August!

Where did July go?It passed so fast!I was planning to blog a lot,to post more pictures from our trip to Bulgaria. What happened?I don't know.Maybe the beautiful weather was in the way urging us to go out and enjoy it while we have it.Bike rides, tending a vegetable patch, play dates for the guinea pigs, hanging the laundry on the clothes line outdoors. The wonderful little joys of summer!
And then the horrible things that happened in the world...leaving me in deep sadness, helpless to find words to express it.Random cruelty, wars, hundreds of innocent lives taken. When will it end...?It is hard to find words...

We are back

It's been more than two weeks since we came back from our trip to Bulgaria. Finally I settled down: got adjusted to the time zone, organized the house a little bit, got used to my regular routine and now I feel I can post some pictures from our trip.We had a lot of wonderful moments with my family and friends during this trip and some not so happy experiences but they were mainly connected with the process of travelling itself.
My daughter rediscovered the country again as she did not remember much from her previous two trips. She was too young at that time. She loved the food prepared mainly from scratch, the beautiful nature especially the country side and the sea.She was ecstatic when she saw the Black Sea for the first time and did not want to leave the city of Bourgas because she wanted to spent more time at the beach.Needless to say that she was so happy to see and spend time with her grandma and her uncle,my friends who she remembered very well from her previous visits and to play with their children.
The worst moment of our trip was at the beginning when we missed our connection to Munich. There was a storm over Chicago and they shut the airport down.We had to land in the city of Molina,IL and although we had 6 hour layover we missed our next flight. As a result we had to spent about 20 hours at the airport in Chicago There were hundreds of people like us who missed their flights. We were offered cot beds, pillows and  blankets in a rest area at Terminal 3.It looked like a refugee camp.I am mentioning this not because I want to concentrate on the negative events but because it was kind of unique experience although not very pleasant. We tried to make the best of the rest of our time at the O'Hara airport. We explored it,we did some sketching and people watching, pictures taking and ate at a Chinese restaurant. In the pictures:
1.The coolest airplane.2.This is how Terminal 3 looked like that night.3.Finally in Sofia.4.The view from our hotel room.5.On the bus on our way to Stara Zagora. Lions Bridge.6.In the country.7.Double rainbow over Grandma's village.8.The Island of Saint Anastasia.

Fun ride - 2.

The tiny town of Stockholm in Wisconsin. We like to come here at least once a year.My husband likes their wonderful nursery with rare flowers and plants.I like the vintage atmosphere and their Art Festival in the summer. My daughter likes everything. The park by the river, the hamburger place, the gift shops.
