Time

Time is the best treasure in life after health.I think. It is so important to have some time for ourselves. To do the things we love.To think. To cleanse our brains. To organize our thoughts.Or just to be.To feel the moment of life.I have time now.I am rich.At the moment.I have eight days off work.I savor every moment, when I do what I love to do:read, sketch, look at the other people's blogs on my tablet, knit, take pictures and so on or even when I do nothing. The pictures above are like illustrations of my life during the last three-four snowy winter days. The spread from my sketchbook is from a year ago.I have some new sketches but I have to take pictures and upload them in the computer.I even tried to bake a bunt cake yesterday and it turned out pretty delicious!

Sketchbook-2014

Sketchbook is such a delicious, inspiring word. Every time I hear or read it my imagination starts simmering with hundreds of new ideas. They usually come though, when I do not have time to try them. When I have a lot of time they somehow disappear and I have hard time coming up with something to draw or paint.And.... this is how I feel at the moment.....Posting pages of my new/and not so new anymore /sketchbook I am trying to find some inspiration for the weekend.
This sketchbook was an unexpected present to myself for Christmas.I was rushing through Barnes and Nobel looking for a last moment present for my husband. It was so crowded and hard to navigate through the isles. Accidentally I knocked something over with my shoulder and that was It.Nice, simple with beautiful off white paper.
I thought to myself: "Oh,you are so beautiful and so delicious with  all your blank pages!!!You are coming home with me!"

#78 and 79

Inspired by Vogue.
Happy May 1!The spring is so late in our neck of the wood.Cold and gloomy. The sunshine still can't win the game.
Spending the weekend doing crafts. Will post some pictures of them when the light is better so I can take good pictures.

All three of them were completed at work during my morning break, instead of reading the morning paper.I used ball point pen, pencil or ink pen.Twitched them at home here and there, adding a watercolor wash for example.

Random sketches

I've been sketching recently random things with watercolors straight with the brush.Everything that attracts my attention or inspires me with something. It could be from life or from a magazine. These two sketches have been inspired from Country living magazine the US edition.

Some sketches from the ball game

I am not that much of a sport lover.I love to watch winter sports and gymnastics but not too much ball games.
But anyway I like to sketch people who play sports.
I guess the movements of the human body fascinates me.

I did these sketches on a warm spring day ,I think in April. My daughter wanted to go to the Creek Side Park.We rode our bikes there and while she was having fun on the swing sets and climbing bars I was having fun sketching the kids playing base ball in the nearby play field.

Some images from my sketchbook

It is another gloomy day,I don't know what takes the sun so long to show up.And it is raining on top of that.
But anyway I managed to do my morning walk. And I read my favourite blogs and talked to my friend on Skype.
In this post I would like to share some drawings from my sketchbook.I use magazines for inspiration when I want to improve my skills of drawing people.
this first one is from an issue of O magazine.

An image inspired by a fashion magazine.

Three Sketches From January 22

These are the three sketches I completed while staying home with my sick little girl on January 22.The first one was done from life.We have two bird feeders in our yard and we have a lot of different birds visiting them in these cold winter days but the main attraction are the cardinals. There are two cardinal families visiting our yard regularly. How could I know they are two different families but sometimes they come together.
The other sketch is of my daughter eating an ice cream on a hot summer day.I took the reference photo during our trip to Bulgaria last year.
And this cute boy's name is Anatoly. He belongs to my friend Plamena who lives in Bulgaria.I took his picture when visiting my friend in the summer. My daughter loved to play with him because he was very patient and cuddly.
I completed the sketches with watercolor pencils in a Canson sketch book.
