Another finished project-up cycled skirt

This project has been nesting in my mind for quite a long time and finally yesterday I did it.
Thing always look harder than they are actually. It took me less than an hour to do it stitching by hand.I didn't even need to take my sewing machine out.
So, the dress was size 6, already
small but as the waist line was high the skirt part was long enough to be worn separately.I cut the top off leaving a couple inches for sewing.
I measured the elastic and hand stitched it together. Then I put it around the waist line wrapped the extra fabric from the top around it and hand stitched it.It turned out perfect and she loved it swirling and twirling in her new/old skirt.

Little treasure

Last weekend we went garage saling for a while and see what I found.Just for three dollars! Can you believe that?I almost choked when I saw the price.Such a beauty for three dollars?
I did not ask questions.I don't know who made this beautiful afghan and why,if it is vintage or not.It looks new to me and having in mind how much time the maker or the artist I would say, invested in it,it it really very valuable to me.
My daughter fell in love with it and insisted to sleep with it every night.
I myself was planning on making one and I will but I know it will take a looooooong time.

One good sunday

This picture is not from today,it is from last week.It was gloomy, cold and windy today and still is.But anyway I had a wonderful time. This morning my daughter and I watched some martins and a bunny having some seeds for breakfast under our bird feeder. Then we decided to sketch them. Her sketches turned really good.Too bad I did not have time to take pictures and upload them in the computer.I promise I will do it in the next post.
I also started a new sketchbook /scrapbook in which I am going to paste all the good sketches that are laying loose around the house.

I finished my first granny square throw pillow maybe more than a month ago but forgot to post it here.In the second picture you can see how the back looks. There is not need to say how proud of myself I am.Now I am working on another one in black and white, but I am going to show that one later.
The size of the pillow is 17x18inches.

Hiking

I worked last weekend but at the weekend before we went hiking with my little daughter and her big sister. It was a wonderful warm spring day, perfect for exploring Mother Nature. We had real fun climbing up the hill to the overlook. There was a two -hundred- year old oak tree on the top of the hill.
It was magnificent to look at its mighty crown and imagine how many living creatures and people had stopped to take a break underneath.

An old one

Too much work,no time for fun.Dont't have anything new. So,there is an old one from 2003.Ink and watercolor pencils. It represents a small village-museum in Bulgaria named Etura.Picturesque and inspiring.Old houses, old time craft shops, old fashion pubs, museums and all that amongst the beautiful nature of the Balkan mountain range.

Inspired

I decided to give a try to the Uppercase magazine and I loved it.I chose to order an older issue or #3 one.I savoured each article with a lot of pleasure. There is so much inspiration in every single one!
But the one that got my creative juices running the fastest was the article about Guylaine Couture,
a graphic designer from Montreal,
and her collages.I liked the freedom and creativity she approached this form of art.And I wanted to try it.
I was fascinated by the liberating part of it!
There is not right or wrong in it!!!You do it the way you want it!
So I decided to try to make my own "cahiers"/notebooks/ of collages.I think it is a great way to unlock or it is more correctly to call it unblock
your creativity.
At the moment I am in a period of doubts and questions so this form of art, I hope, will keep my creative juices flowing.

The last two pictures are layouts from my new collage notebook.Believe me it is a great fun.The best thing is that every page is a work in progress.

Flamenco dancer

Today I did some sketches with charcoal.I was inspired by the flamenco dancers in one of the recent posts of http://therewereswallows.com/ .
With the kind permission of the owner of the blog I used her video as a reference. This is the first sketch. The second one I will post later because I had troubles taking a decent picture of it.

Spring is coming

We had a wonderful ,warm and sunny day.Took my little girl for a bike ride this morning. Two miles .Then she played outside almost the whole day.Kids are so happy to play in light comfy clothes. All the boots and snow pants are gone.
In the afternoon I went for another bike ride,my usual five-mile one. That was my first one this year.A real boost of energy.
I did this sketch several months ago but I chose to post it today because it relates with the mood and the feelings of my present day.

A tin toy

This sketch is of a tin toy puppy. It is a part of my husband's collection of tin toys.He is sure a collector. He has all kinds of collections.Unfortunately some of his collections got destroyed in the flood in 2007.For example his collection of vinyl records.
I drew the puppy with ink pen and painted it with watercolor pencils.
