Flamenco dancer

Today I did some sketches with charcoal.I was inspired by the flamenco dancers in one of the recent posts of http://therewereswallows.com/ .
With the kind permission of the owner of the blog I used her video as a reference. This is the first sketch.The second one I will post later because I had troubles taking a decent picture of it.

I did this one just for fun.It is charcoal pencils with watercolor pencils in my Canson sketch book.The size is about 8x10

She Is Pretty

This girl is one of the nudes too but I decided that her face is much more interesting than her body so,I skipped the nudity. It is in my Canson sketch book with charcoal pencils.

Nudes

Somebody in Wet Canvas shared with us a link to a free website she had found with vintage images of nudes.The cards or photos,you can call them whatever you like, are wonderful reference material for artists.Abundance of poses,gestures and beautiful faces which inspire you to practise drawing the human body.It would be better if I could do it from life but so far it is impossible.So I enjoy drawing people from this site.I used graphite and charcoal pencils drawing them in my Canson sketchbook.

This is another drawing from the series Baby Sonya. This time I used a charcoal pencil and Conte Crayons. The reference picture was taken by my mother -in-law when Sonya was about a year old.

This is another drawing from the series Baby Sonya.It is a charcoal pencil on paper.I used a reference photo of my own.

Baby Sonya

This is a drawing of my daughter Sonya from the time she was about a year old.I used a reference photo because as you know it is too hard to make a child stand still for a long time.I drew her with charcoal pencils on regular drawing paper which I am afraid is not acid free.

The picture I used for reference had been taken by her grandma when giving her a bath in the bathtub.Her grandma used a laundry basket in the tub to keep her safe.
