Illustration Friday: Power
This is my submission for this week's topic Power. It illustrates the powerful bond between a person and her dog. The love between a person and a pet can be so strong that in moments of danger they can risk their lives to save each other. This one is an old doodle that I did back in June but I like how it turned out and would like to share it with you. The girl in it also reminds me about my step daughter Alana who loves animals so much ,especially the dogs, so she goes to school to become a vet technician.

Illustration Friday:Children
This is my second submission for this week's topic: Children. The topic is one of my favorite ones. I bet I have hundreds of drawings of children in my sketchbooks but I appreciate Illustration Friday for the motivation and the inspiration it gives me to draw more. Most of my submissions are new ones and this one too.

Spring is coming
We had a wonderful ,warm and sunny day.Took my little girl for a bike ride this morning. Two miles .
Then she played outside almost the whole day.Kids are so happy to play in light comfy clothes. All the boots and snow pants are gone.
In the afternoon I went for another bike ride,my usual five-mile one. That was my first one this year.A real boost of energy.
I did this sketch several months ago but I chose to post it today because it relates with the mood and the feelings of my present day.

A tin toy

This sketch is of a tin toy puppy. It is a part of my husband's collection of tin toys.He is sure a collector. He has all kinds of collections.Unfortunately some of his collections got destroyed in the flood in 2007.For example his collection of vinyl records.
I drew the puppy with ink pen and painted it with watercolor pencils.

Anniversary

Yesterday it was my second anniversary of starting this blog of mine-Vanyas Art Journal.I started it as a free style blog where I could share my experiments with different media like watercolors and watercolor pencils,
ink,collage,pastel,journaling,card making and so on.
In the process of journaling about my art adventures I started feeling like getting more personal and included some things from my every day life.My attitude towards photography changed. I try to be more creative and artistic with my pictures.
My interests widened too.My last passion as you can see is fiber art or crocheting and knitting.
But the most important thing about my blogs is that I have fun.I am grateful for the people who visit my blogs and read them and for the people who take time to leave a comment.
Thank you guys.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoy blogging.

Little Birdy

This is a drawing from the last year.It still sounds weird to call 2009 last year.I tried to render the image with a few lines.Ink pen and watercolor pencils.
Today I did not paint but tried to fix some old paintings of mine-some clouds, some trees, some leaves.I also signed a couple of them and varnished three or four. The second part was boring.

Getting into Christmas mood

Yesterday it was a good day.I made some Christmas cards for my Etsy shop. The two ones at the foreground are original -drawn with ink and painted with watercolor pencils by me.The one at the top is a print of my own watercolor painting of my daughter and Santa Claus.
Christmas is an exciting time,my favourite Holiday of the year.
For more details you can visit my Etsy shop.

Summer Challenge #14 and #15-quickies
These
two sketches were done with my non dominant hand ,in my case my right one.I read in a magazine that it is a good warm up if you experience a creative block.I have tried that before and I liked the effect you get using your so called "weaker hand". To draw and paint these sketches I used some faces from a magazine as an inspiration.I used ink pen, Pilot, and my favourite watercolor pencils Faber Castell. The first one was done in my sketch book and the second one on regular note book paper. The size is 6x9.

Watching the parade-summer challenge#12 and #13
Here you can find some sketches drawn from life. They were completed with Pilot ink pen and Faber Castell watercolor pencils in my sketch book ,size 6x9. Last weekend we had a parade in our city.
As I am a parade lover I try not to miss it and take advantage of it.I usually take a lot of pictures for my reference files.Really, where can you find so many people of different ages sitting and standing in so many different poses, clowns, beauty queens ,school bends, old cars ,old fire trucks and what not? So,this year I even managed to make some sketches from life.I could have done more if my daughter was not so excited and loud attracting people's attention to us,especially to me sketching.
