The last project for the last year

This was the last craft project I finished in the last days of 2010.A little case for my crochet hooks and double pointed knitting needles.I sew it entirely by hand using recycled denim fabric from old jeans. For the decorations I used recycled embroideries from my daughter's old jeans.

The first four ones

I have never published two posts in one day but today it is an exception. These are the first four ones from my challenge.I had to make up for the first days of the year.I hope I will be able to ketch up in a couple of days and after that it will be easier. The first one is from a picture,#3 ans4 from life and #4 is a fantasy lady.I used ink pens and watercolor pencils.

The Challenge

It is snowing slowly and lazily outside.I love this kind of weather. It is warm and cozy inside.I sit behind the computer and waste my time.I've already checked my favourite blogs and there is no reason to go on sitting here.I realize I should use my time in a more creative way.
I make "to do" lists so some ideas do not fall through the cracks.Anyway it is a New Year. One should start it with new hopes, new plans and new ideas. One should take new roads and have new beginnings.

I had hard time deciding how to start my blogging journey for this year.Last
weekend I went to the website of Etsy.com and on their blog I read the inspiring article about Noah Scalin. He challenged himself to make a scull a day to keep his creative juices going.I got so excited reading about his creativity journey that in a moment of weakness I left a comment saying that I would challenge myself doing a sketch a day for the entire 2011 year. Now I realised what I got myself into but at least I will try.Yes I am going to try.It could be not only sketches but drawings and some other art pieces. And if I miss a day I will have to make up for it.I will post updates once or two times a week several pieces at a time.
I am doing it for myself to keep myself going.

Happy New Year 2011

I wish you one New Year filled with Peace, Joy and Happiness!May all your dreams come true and the inspiration and creativity are a great part of your life!
This pencil drawing of a girl with a bird was inspired by a movie made sometime in the 1980- ies.It was a production of USA and USSR and its name was The Blue Bird as I could remember.I saw the picture of the girl in a magazine and I just had to draw her.

Christmas decorations

The time before Christmas is the time of making, the time of never ending inspiration.Ideas from magazines, ideas from the web, stores and craft shows.I can't tell who inspired me for those handmade decorations but whoever it was I say
"Thank you".So,I used leftover yarn and beads from my daughter's collection. At the moment they are outside decorating a bare bush in our yard.It is actually very cute .If I don't forget I will take a picture and post it later.

Crafts Basket

This project had been nesting in my mind for quite a long time. Finally during my two-week- stay home I found the courage to start it and guess what?I finished it!!!It took me three or four days but don't take me wrong. It was not a constant, overwhelming labor.Every time I felt like watching TV I would take the craft in my hands. It took 8 T-shirts to make it,two adults and six children's size. The crocheting itself is fast.It is the cutting the T-shirts in strips that takes so long. But at the end the result is fabulous.I am so proud of my new crafts basket and it makes me feel good about recycling eight T-shirts that were cluttering my closets.

Christmas cards

I am working on my Christmas cards. The people I am going to send them to don't read my blog so the surprise is not going to be spoiled.
Besides the stamp with the sign Merry Christmas all the stamps have been handmade by me.

Alana's clay creations

I had to post about that.May be it would have been a nice post suitable for Halloween but anyway I would like to share my step daughter's whimsical creations.
Don't you love these little clay heads ?There is so much humor and creativity in them.
I love them. They bring smile on my face every time I look at them.
Alana made them during her pottery classes at her school.
