Indian Summer

To compensate for the gloomy,cold and rainy September this month came with a warm and bright Indian Summer.The temperatures hit the record.The sunshine is so warm and friendly and there is that sweet smell of dying leaves and ripe fruit in the air.So much beauty around us that I try to savor every single moment of this beautiful time of the year.

Two projects from last week

I knitted two hats for my Etsy store last weekend.The size is for older kids and adults.I am going to list them pretty soon.As soon as I sew them.

Studies of birds

Today I am posting a couple of drawings of birds with a pencil.I did them at the end of August.Through my face book account I happened to come across one girl's beautiful album of photos.Her name is Isabel Cristina Para and she is such a talented photographer.I do not know where she lives and what she does for living but I loved her pictures of birds and flowers and I used them to do some pencil studies of birds.
I can not give you any link to her page so you can go and see her pictures for yourself because it is kind of hard to find her on face book.I typed her name there and the search engine gave me about a hundred people with a similar name and none of them was her.I had to find out whose friend of my friends in face book she was to be able to go back to her page.

Fall.Weekend.

Gloomy days,pretty colors in the trees,worries cosed by the high water in the creek,dealing with the wet floor of the basement.But anyway I am glad we are not flooded again.The weather man promised a couple of dry weeks.Hope everything will be all right.

I am going to check the basement again.Then will paint a little bit.

Gloomy autumn days.The sunshine has hard time showing up.Sometimes cold ,sometimes mild,sometimes rainy,sometimes dry.The weather is unpredictable at the moment.I hope I will be able to go on a bike ride today.The pictures are from a bike ride I took the last week,after the rain.

Weekend project

This naughty boy Summer is packing up his stuff getting ready to move south.We will miss him because we had a lot of fun all those warm months but we also love his beautiful sister Fall.Yes,we can feel her signs around us.Chilly mornings,
sunshine that does not warm too much,more rainy and cloudy days,the trees starting to change into pretty fall colors,the kids running to school early in the morning,the smell of apples in the air.Oh, I love fall!!!
I can't wait to take more beautiful pictures in the warm colors of the season.Recently,I've realised that I need a small bag or pouch to carry my camera and my cell phone during my bike rides.Carrying them in my pockets is not comfortable or safe.So ,this last weekend I made myself this little bag just big enough for my camera and cell.It is still a work in progress but I am almost done.I love the colors of the yarn,so girly!

Back to school

It is windy,cloudy and cold today.A real fall day.Not a very good weather for the beginning of the school year.But she was excited to go and see her old friends and her new teacher. I hope we will have a successful and exciting school year.
She painted this picture last week
when we got her back pack with the school supplies ready for the open house in her school.As a way to express her excitement about the first school day she decided to hang it on a tree in front of our house so the other kids can see it and get ready for school too.

Shoes

I have been on a search for good, comfortable and affordable shoes recently. As I did not have much of a success I decided to paint the ones I liked from

Joules.I am just dying for the pair of those milk-and-coffee colored canvas shoes with the pink shoe laces.

Fashion girls

Here you can see some more random sketches.This time I used some fashion catalogs for inspiration-JCPenney and Joules.I painted them straight with the
brush but in the first one I used colored
pencils for the fine details.

The parade

I don't know about you but I love to watch parades.Maybe because I can stare at people without embarrassing myself or making them feel embarrassed.I like to observe people and then try to use the observations in my art.I take tons of pictures to keep the atmosphere and the images fresh in my mind.

I watched this parade with my daughter and my mother -in-law.My favourite part of the parades are the marching bends.I love their uniforms,their shiny instruments and their lovely music.

Random sketches

I've been sketching recently random things with watercolors straight with the brush.Everything that attracts my attention or inspires me with something.It could be from life or from a magazine.These two sketches have been inspired from Country living magazine the US edition.

New project-my crazy afghan

Inspired by the book I wrote about in the previous post I started a new project,an afghan I would make with the leftover yarn I have lying around the house.I don't know when I will finish it but I love the freedom of experimenting with colors,texture and patterns.You can see the beginning in this picture.

I think I will get rid of some loose ends but I will keep some of them for more interest and texture.

Something cool

I bought this old craft book at a sale for used books several months ago.It cost me only a couple of dollars.I bought it just for the idea of the afghan in these pictures.It is crazy cool ,isn't it ?
The colors,the pattern, the arrangement of the squares.There are some more interesting ideas in the book too which I can share in another post.
I started a project inspired by this afghan.I am going to use my leftover yarn on it. But I am going to post about it the next time.
