Finished Project

This little fellow was finished just before Christmas.I did not want to start the New Year with too many unfinished projects.Anyway there are a couple little ones that are gathering dust in the boxes and I have to find that special moment of inspiration to finish them.

Baklava

No,I did not make it.I bought it from Wal Mart.Two years ago I was surprised to discover that they deliver it for Christmas.Only for Christmas.It is my comfort food for the Holidays.It is a part of the Bulgarian tradition to have baklava at this time of the year.I remember how I helped my mom to make it.It is made from filo dough, lots of wall nuts and thick sugar syrup.

Sonya's magic hand warmers

Finished those hand warmers for my little one on the way to and back from Christmas shopping with my family.

She loves them and won't take them off all day today.

Handmade Christmas

Just decided to share some of the handmade decorations on our Christmas tree.They have been made by me with a little help of my daughter.
For the felt heart and the Madonna
I used the picture that you have left over when you use all the twenty post stamps of the panel.I laminated it and attached it to the heart.It reminds me about the Christmas we spent in the FEMA trailer after the flood.I felt so grateful and happy for being able to survive and having a roof over my had.
Don't you love that pink Christmas tree?It is entirely my daughter's design ans completion.
The sculptured Santa is made out of Sculpey clay and it was inspired by a Hallmark Christmas decoration.I had to bake it in my toaster oven and painted it with acrylic paints.The other felt heart and the Christmas tree were a team effort.I was trying to teach my daughter how to sew by hand,so I had to hold the cloth for her and make sure she did not poke her fingers.

Stranded at home

And here she came.The blizzard that started slowly yesterday afternoon.It snowed the whole night and the whole day today.And it is pretty windy out there.It is loosing its strength and I hope it is going to clear up tomorrow.But today there was no school ,no daycare and we could not make it to work.Judging by the cars in front of our neighbours houses we were not the only ones stranded in the house.

There isn't anything better than a bowl of warm homemade potato soup on a such a cold snowy day.

And also I watched my daughter's first attempts in the abstract arts with watercolors and crayons.

Just a post

This has been the way our street looked like for more than three weeks.War zone,building site ,etcetera.

They are changing the water and sewer systems.It is noisy, you can't hear your own TV.The ground is shaking as if there is an earthquake of the highest level and I can hear every cup in my china cabinet shifting and clinging.

I hope they will wrap it up soon because the real winter is coming.We are expecting a blizzard today ,between 6 and 9 inches of snow.

Decorated for Christmas

We put the Christmas tree up on the next day after Thanksgiving.My daughter wanted to start decorating for Christmas even before that.

Ashley helped too.

This corner was entirely organized by my daughter.

Getting into Christmas mood

Yesterday it was a good day.I made some Christmas cards for my Etsy shop.The two ones at the foreground are original -drawn with ink and painted with watercolor pencils by me.The one at the top is a print of my own watercolor painting of my daughter and Santa Claus.

Christmas is an exciting time,my favourite Holiday of the year.

Crafty weekend

Last weekend my daughter was in a crafty Christmasy mood.
Let's make something for Christmas!

We discussed the ideas and came up with a felted snow man.You can see the results in the picture.The big white one is mine.The little cute one is Sonya's/I just helped a little bit with the sewing/.The green one was made by my step daughter Alana/16/ on the next day.When she saw our creations she got inspired and wanted to make her own.I helped her with some directions.
We won't forget which one is hers.

And this is Sonya's letter to Santa.It was ready and sealed at the beginning of September.So,you won't make a mistake telling which is her favorite Holiday.

New items in my etsy shop

Today I was busy listing some greeting cards in my etsy shop.Both sets include two original /handmade/ cards and one printed one of design of my own. I really had fun creating them.I have more ideas and some more are coming to the shop.

If you are wondering why I was out of sight for a while it was because our computer was crashed.I hacker,a virus,a computer recovery shop-it was a long story.Now everything is back to normal,thank god,and I am back again.

An outfit for Ella

Last Sunday she said :You haven't made anything for me recently.I asked:What do you want? A purse,she answered.I have already made you a purse I said.OK, she said,make clothes for my dolls.Make a skirt for Ella,please.So,I did it,a whole outfit.

Today I made cards for my Etsy shop.I will list them

The Shop

I am the proud and excited owner of an Etsy shop.I opened it in the middle of this month and I already had one sale!
Today I listed some more stuff.Crocheted baby booties and a hat.I like to crochet or knit when watching TV with my daughter.We like to watch George Lopes and Everybody Hates Chris.And iCarly is our favorite.

Working on my Etsy shop

I did not have time to paint and draw the last couple of weeks,neither to post in here.I was trying to figure out how to set up an Etsy shop.Finally it is done and I have a couple of things listed.I still have tons of things to learn-for example how to put an Etsy button on my blogs but I will solve this problem too.
