Hello,August!

Where did July go?It passed so fast!I was planning to blog a lot,to post more pictures from our trip to Bulgaria. What happened?I don't know.Maybe the beautiful weather was in the way urging us to go out and enjoy it while we have it.Bike rides, tending a vegetable patch, play dates for the guinea pigs, hanging the laundry on the clothes line outdoors. The wonderful little joys of summer!
And then the horrible things that happened in the world...leaving me in deep sadness, helpless to find words to express it.Random cruelty, wars, hundreds of innocent lives taken. When will it end...?It is hard to find words...

Illustration Friday:Underwater

I was wondering if I should post the first one or not because it is not my cup of tea. Not my style at all.I was just experimenting with this kind of doodling and I was surprised how much fun I had.I felt liberated. The second one was completed straight with the brush.

Summer

We had a few warm and sunny days. The nice weather  calls our names and we spend more time outdoors. Walks, bike rides ,hanging out in the back yard with the guinea pigs or watering my little veggie patch. No much time for sketching or drawing. The drawing in the first picture is an old one. It reflects my mood at the moment. The red shoes remind me about the pain in my right foot I am dealing with. I haven't been to the doctor yet hoping to walk it off but if it goes on like that I will have to go. I do not let it stop me from doing fun staff though. It is summer!

It feels like summer

It feels like summer finally! I started to believe that eventually it will come. On Thursday we had the nicest day for this spring. All sunshine and summer warmth. Oh god, how we need that! Yesterday was not bad too. There were clouds once in a while but as a whole nice. We took a good advantage of the warm weather and went on a bike ride to Peterson.10-11 miles total. My girl was even more motivated than usual because I promised a lunch at Burdey's Café. She loves this place. The food is so delicious there and the prices are very nice. She doesn't care about the last one but I just want to mention it as a "bill payer". On our way back we took pictures of wild flowers and the beautiful scenery. Back at home we decided that it would be fair for the Guinea pigs to enjoy the beautiful weather so we took them out to their play pen. Yes, it was a wonderful day spent with my daughter. And not only this day, the whole week was so sweet because I had it off. Too bad it is coming to its end. It is always so precious to spend time with the people you love and to do things you love to do. I enjoyed every single minute of my little vacation.

My miniature pumpkin patch

The weather is turning into a real summer. It was so hot yesterday, 92 degrees, that I wished I could be by a river or at the pool.As it is so nice outside I try to spend as much time as possible out of the house.I started my little vegetable garden with few tomato and cucumber plants, some herbs and onions. We also have several strawberry plants. Many times when I am outside tending to my garden my daughter will bring her Guinea pig Hurby and they will play in his little play pen and will keep me company. This year my daughter and I decided to experiment with growing our own pumpkins for Halloween.I had some pumpkin seeds saved from last year pumpkin decorating. We started the seedlings in a plastic container on top of some cotton.Remember that experiment you did when you were in elementary school?Watching the miracle of the seeds turning into small plants? Then I planted the little seedlings into the ground. You can see them in the first picture. Then something started eating my precious delicate pumpkin plants.I thought it was a pesky little baby bunny and double fenced the patch. On top of that I covered them with Pepsi bottles cut in half with the cap off, like a little personal green house for each plant. In the end it appeared that the culprits were the slugs who snacked on my plants.I don't know what I can do about them but so far my pumpkin plants are thriving growing their third and forth leaves.Let's cross our fingers and hope they will grow big and strong healthy plants that no slugs can defeat.

Pictures from a fun weekend

Last weekend was a great fun. Finally it felt like summer.Hot,hot, hot! We spent almost 4 hours at the swimming pool.I asked her "How long would you like us to stay here?""Till we get sick of it."she answered. So,we did it.
This beautiful butterfly was also chilling by the pool.
It was funny how it was not afraid of the people posing long enough for my shoots.

Swimming pool time

Finally the summer is here and we can go to the swimming pool.

Gloomy Day

As it is a gloomy day today,I looked in my archive for some inspirational pictures from the last summer .I found these from a cute little flower place by a little city ,which name I forgot.
For lunch I made for myself bruschetta with hot dogs, tomatoes and feta cheese.Had my favourite green tea ,too.

This fellow was very curious and friendly.
